...what happens to Montoya

WILLIAMS's announcement that it is going to run Alex Zanardi and Ralf Schumacher means that the newly-crowned Formula 3000 Champion Juan-Pablo Montoya is unlikely to find an F1 drive next year. We believe that Williams is hoping to convince Zanardi's current boss Chip Ganassi to sign up the Colombian for CART racing for the next couple of years.

Ganassi is to attend this week's testing in Barcelona and will see Zanardi and Montoya in action alongside one another. It may be that Montoya will then fly to Houston with Ganassi to attend the next CART race.

At the moment Ganassi refuses to comment on his plans for replacing Zanardi. "There are a lot of good drivers available," he said last week, "but I really don't feel a burning need to name someone today or tomorrow."
