HENNY VOLLENBERG, boss of March F1 between January 1992 and April 1993, has been arrested by the Dutch police. Vollenberg appeared in court in s'Hertogenbosch in Holland on Friday. The charges against him are reported to include fraud and Dutch newspapers say he is facing a maximum penalty of eight years in prison if found guilty.

The Dutch investigation has been going on for several years and has involved the German, Belgian, British and Jersey police forces. We understand that several well-known F1 figures have been questioned in the course of the investigation. Particular interest is being shown in the period immediately before March F1 was declared bankrupt when assets - worth around $3.5m - were dispersed.

In addition to his involvement with March F1, Vollenberg ran a haulage company at St Anthonis in the south of Holland and has been the motive force behind the Vortex F3000 team since 1989. Vortex has never won an F3000 race, but has employed drivers of the caliber of Heinz-Harald Frentzen (1991), Max Papis (1993), David Coulthard and Tarso Marques (1994) and Jan Lammers (1995).
