Anderson in demand
JORDAN technical director Gary Anderson is a man in demand at the moment with paddock rumors in Hockenheim linking him to engineering jobs at Arrows, Prost and Williams.
Tom Walkinshaw needs a replacement for Barnard and while Mike Coughlan can undoubtedly do the job, there is pressure for Tom to have an established name designer like Anderson.
The third option would seem to be a job working with Patrick Head at Williams, filling the gap left by the departure of Adrian Newey. Head has become increasingly busy in recent years with the F1 programs, the BMW sportscar and Williams Touring Car Engineering and is rumored to be looking for someone to help him out.
Anderson himself says that he has a contract with Jordan until the end of 1999 and is planning to honour that deal, despite the fact that Mike Gascoyne has joined the team and will design the 1999 Jordan-Mugen Honda car. It remains to be seen whether Eddie Jordan wants both Anderson and Gascoyne working in the team at the same time...
