Montoya second on the grid

Juan Pablo Montoya has qualified second for the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Talladega, behind veteran Bobby Gerhart, who lapped the track at 189.485mph. Montoya's speed was 189.451 mph - an impressive start for an oval racing newcomer.

A wet session in Suzuka started the Japanese GP meeting off on a low note as only a dozen drivers were seen in action. Only four of the race drivers did more than one shakedown run and it was left to the test drivers to do the work.

NASCAR gets Montreal date

NASCAR is taking its Busch Series to Montreal next season with a race planned on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on August 4, two months after the Formula 1 cars run there.

Zuber tops GP2 tests at Paul Ricard

Andreas Zuber, the Dubai-based Austrian, topped the timesheets of a major GP2 test at Paul Ricard as a new generation of GP2 drivers began testing for the first time. Zuber, driving for iSport International, was two-tenths faster than Giorgio Pantano, who is now with Campos Racing.
