Some consolation for Williams

It is fair to say that the exclusion of the two BMW Williams from the results in Canada is a massive blow to Williams's World Championship ambitions in 2004.

Williams and Toyota disqualified in Canada!

The Williams and Toyota teams were both disqualified in Canada for having illegal brake ducts. This means that Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya lose second and fifth places respectively and that Cristiano da Matta loses his eighth place.

Time for Glock

Giorgio Pantano has been unable to sort out the contractual problems which meant he was unable to run in Canada yesterday and so the team has drafted in reserve driver Timo Glock for what will be his first Grand Prix.

Samsung thinking again about F1

The Korean conglomerate Samsung has been looking closely at Formula 1 in the last few months but it seems that the company has decided that it does not want to embark on a high-profile sponsorship in the sport and will use other forms of publicity between its involvement in the Olympic Games of 2004 and 2008.

Petrobras extends with Williams

The BMW Williams F1 team has announced that it is extending its commercial agreement with the Brazilian oil company Petrobras. It will be the seventh consecutive season that the two parties have worked together.

Might British Airways become an F1 sponsor?

The boss of British American Tobacco, Martin Broughton, has been appointed the new chief executive of British Airways and inevitably this has led to speculation that the airline might become involved in an Formula 1 sponsorship, perhaps even with BAR.

Giorgio Pantano is having to sit out the first practice session in Montreal because of a dispute over money. Pantano is committed to paying Jordan to drive for the team this year and the money is in place but it seems that there is now a dispute over who is going to run his career in the future.
