Toshio Suzuki was a successful single seater driver in Japan. He won the 1979 Japanese Formula 3 title and then raced regularly in Japanese F2 and Formula 3000. He finished runner-up in the series to Mauro Martini in 1992 and was a front-runner again in 1993. At the end of that year - at the age of 38 - he found backing to drive the second Larrousse-Lamborghini. He finished 12th in Japan and 14th in Australia.Suzuki also enjoyed a successful career as a Toyota sportscar driver in national events.
