FIA Institute creates medicine man pow-wow

The FIA Institute has been pumping out news this week as it meets for the first FIA Institute Safety Summit, at Paul Ricard. The latest news is that the Institute has established a new body called the FIA Institute Medical Faculty (FIMF), to consolidate the expertise of motor sport doctors and medical staff around the world. Chaired by FIA Institute Deputy President Professor Gerard Saillant, the FIMF will offer a forum to share knowledge, facilitate research, improve training and raise standards amongst motor racing's growing global medical fraternity and will also be open to medical experts working in other sports.

"The FIA Institute Medical Faculty will seek to develop a genuine community amongst sporting medical practitioners," says Professor Saillant. "It offers an opportunity to bring together specialists from various sporting disciplines who will be able to work together to improve practices worldwide."
