Adam Carroll going it alone

Adam Carroll has announced that he is not going to continue with the Honda F1 team. Carroll asked to be released from his deal with Honda and the team did not try to stop him leaving - which is an interesting reflection on attitudes within the operation. The team has Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, Anthony Davidson and James Rossiter under contract at the moment and so kind of arrangement also with Alan Van der Merwe. Clearly Carroll thinks that there are too many names in the Honda pot but it is not clear where he will have a better chance to try Formula 1 cars, particularly as there may be less of a need for test drivers in 2007. The 23-year-old Ulsterman is in his second season in GP2 but has had a poor season compared to last year when he won three races in his Super Nova Racing entry. This year he is with Racing Engineering and has struggled to be competitive.
