Glock shows his calibre

Timo Glock won a super victory in the GP2 race on Sunday morning at Hockenheim, stealing the win from a dozy Jose-Maria Lopez on the last lap of the event. Lopez had taken the lead at the start after poleman Clivio Piccione made a mess of the first lap and ended up parked in the wall while the action was lively behind them as Lewis Hamilton worked his way up through the field to third place. In the closing laps Glock closed in on Lopez and on the last lap went down the inside at the hairpin, catching Lopez by surprise. Hamilton was third and with Nelson Piquet retiring with mechanical trouble Hamilton was able to increase his lead in the championship.

Further back in the field Hamilton's ART team mate Alexandre Premat showed that he has all the makings of a future sports car driver with a very poor effort to pass Hiroki Yoshimoto which resulted in the poor Japanese driver being taken off and being joined in the sandtrap by Premat. Yoshimoto showed a keen understanding of European gesticulation skills as he expressed his displeasure at the hapless Frenchman.
