Other World Council decisions

The FIA World Council made a number of other decisions, notably approving the distribution of the consultation document on regulations for the 2008 FIA Formula 1 World Championship to the relevant stakeholders. This is odd phraseology as it does not mean that the World Council approved the document itself, an interesting point.

The Council alos approved new rules for the International Court of Appeal which incorporate the current procedures with changes to increase efficiency and independence and include the establishment of a Congress of judges that will meet once a year and the reduction of the time limit for confirmation of an appeal from seven days to 48 hours. It is not clear why this was sufficiently urgent to be dealt with by the World Council as such matters are usually considered by the FIA General Assembly, in the same way as the recent change in electoral structures.
