Dominguez and Midland

Mario Dominguez has explained to a US website that he was offered a drive with Midland in 2005 but turned it down to stay with HWM in Champ Car racing. He says he has also signed a letter of intent for 2006.

"I have signed a letter of intent to drive for the Midland Jordan team in 2006,' Dominguez told autoracing1.com. "It is not vital that I bring money because the team and the series know that if I am in the series there will be great interest in F1 from Mexican sponsors."

Dominguez did admit that money may still be part of the equation.

The Mexican said he turned down the third driver role because it required too much travelling this year as he has a contract with HVM in Champ Car racing.
