Glock takes on all comers
German race fans will be getting excited this weekend at the ninth annual Cologne 24 Hour kart race which pits professional racers up against rising stars and amateurs. The event, which is held at the Koln-Rodenkirchen track, a 375m facility in the southern suburbs of the city. The event will feature 12 teams, each of around 10 drivers. The field will include Bernd Schneider's team sponsored by Dark Dog which has won the event six times. This year's team includes such luminaries as European Touring car stars Dirk and Jorg Muller, Sven Heidfeld and former German F3 Champion Frank Diefenbacher and, of course, Schneider himself.
The main opposition will come from the Speed Academy which boasts F1 driver Timo Glock and Formula 3 driver Maxi Goetz. Others who will be racing include F1 aspirant Marcel Lasee, former DTM champions Jorg Van Ommen and Kurt Thiim.
In addition to the big event there wll be a VIP race which will boast all the big names from the main event plus touring car legend Klaus Ludwig and the man who beat him last year, Swiss journalist Marcus Lacroix of Motorsport Aktuell .
