Start 'em young

American John Edwards has wanted to become a Formula 1 driver since he spectated at the inaugural United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis in 2000. The 13-year-old from Arkansas was picked last year to be one of Red Bull's drivers in Europe and moves to Italy this week to race with the CRG karting team in the Italian championship. Currently in Austria at the Red Bull training centre Edwards will be guided this year by CRG team manager Danilo Rossi, a multiple karting champion.

The plan is for Edwards to move to Formula BMW in 2006. He will be able to race in the German BMW series as soon as he turns 15 on March 11 next year.
