A showdown in Mexico City

The Champ Car World Series finishes off this weekend in Mexico City with Newman Haas Racing team mates Sebastien Bourdais (McDonald's Lola-Ford Cosworth) and Bruno Junqueira (PacifiCare Lola-Ford Cosworth) battling it out to win the title. Bourdais goes to Mexico City with a 22-point lead in the championship and he needs to finish only ninth to win his first title in America. Both men are former Formula 3000 champions, Junqueira in 2000 and Bourdais in 2002 and while Junqueira spent time as a Williams test driver, Bourdais still has ambitions of breaking into F1 and had plans to test for Jaguar Racing before the announcement that Ford was withdrawing its support for the team. If the team stays alive it is still possible that the 25-year-old from Le Mans will be given a run. Bourdais has already signed a contract to race for Newman Haas next year.
