Indianapolis Midgets in action again

One of the most popular events of the United States Grand Prix weekend is the Mopar Twin 25s midget race on Friday night at Indianapolis Raceway Park. There will be 40 drivers competing for starting slots in the 25-car field in two heats. There will then be two 25-lap feature events. The winner of the first will start last in the second but if he can drive through the field and win again he stands to gain a $50,000 bonus. That was achieved last year by Dave Steele, who won the largest ever payout in USAC Midget racing history.

"Everybody who attended won't forget that night," says promoter Steve Lewis. "The whole crowd was on its feet and screaming the entire second feature race, including international visitors seeing their first American oval track race."
