Indians descend on Monza

A large delegation from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh was present at Monza at the weekend to talk with Bernie Ecclestone about the possibility of a Grand Prix in Hyderabad. The delegation includes two other state ministers, several members of parliament and a number of other functionaries, businessmen and even film stars. Listed amongst the members of the delegation is Michael Taub, a British businessman who is close to Bernie Ecclestone and who was involved in the previous attempts to set up an Indian Grand Prix in Kolkata (Calcutta). That project failed because the money necessary could not be found but it seems that the government of Andhra Pradesh is willing to make the necessary investment and Formula 1 is, naturally, interested in getting access to the vast Indian market.
