Why sensible teams have more than one test driver

British American Racing had Jenson Button out of action after his Monaco crash when its test team headed to Monza for a three-day test this week. The team's third driver Takuma Sato began running on Tuesday alongside test driver Anthony Davidson. They were joined by Jacques Villeneuve on the second day of the test but at the end of the day decided not to continue because of a recurrent back injury which he wanted to ensure was not a problem in the run up to Montreal, his home race.

Both Jenson and Jacques will be back in action in Montreal and with the latest specification Honda engine, the pair should be worth watching. Honda's engines have been improving quietly throughout the year and are now very powerful although reliability is still something of an issue.
