Fisichella and Williams

The Formula 1 paddock was buzzing on Saturday with stories that the Williams team might be looking at Giancarlo Fisichella as a possible replacement for Ralf Schumacher. The two men had dinner together on Friday and this was leaked to the press. The following day Sir Frank Williams went on record saying that the team is going to respect Ralf Schumacher's contract until the end of 2004 although it is well-known that within the team Ralf's recent inconsistent performance has been a source of worry. It is worth noting that Juan Pablo Montoya has also been fairly inconsistent and so Ralf's position is nowhere near as vulnerable as it might appear.
