Renault's deal with Mild Seven
Renault has announced an extension of the current deal with Japan Tobacco's Mild Seven brand for another four years. This will take the relationship up to the date of the planned global ban on all tobacco sponsorship in the sport. The announcement would seem to ignore the problems which face Mild Seven in Europe where a ban will soon come in which stops tobacco companies using the words "mild" and "light" in advertising. Mild Seven is fighting that ban but may end up having to accept a sponsorship which disappears at European events.
