Lotterer to get CART chance

Former Jaguar test driver Andre Lotterer will compete in the Mexico City CART race next weekend for Dale Coyne Racing. The young German will make his CART debut in the Cosworth powered Lola that BAR test driver Darren Manning drove in the Rockingham round of the series in September.

The race will be just the second event for Coyne's Chicago based team in 2002, the first being Rockingham, but they intend to run at least one car regularly in the series next year.

In addition to his Jaguar testing duties, Lotterer competed in the British F3 series in 2001, but the 20 year old has not been behind the wheel regularly in 2002.

"He's got nowhere the miles and experience of Manning and he simply needs more time in the car," said Coyne, "but I think he'll be OK--as long as we pick him up at the airport because he can't rent a car yet."
