Arrows announcement on Monday

The Arrows team is expected to make an announcement on Monday about its future and the signs are that this will not be good news. It is not anticipated that the planned American team will have anything to do with Arrows and it seems that the intention at the moment of the US operation is to go it alone and pay the $48m deposit.

It has been revealed that businessmen Bob Balachowski and Russ Olsen are behind the idea which will be fronted by Dan Gurney and Phil Hill.

"They have done a lot of the planning and leg work," Gurney said. "We will end up with major American sponsorship that wants to get global racing exposure and business."

It is anticipated that on Wednesday next week Orange will announce that it is pulling out of sponsoring teams but will continue as a trackside sponsor.
