Bronfman. Who?

THERE have been stories in recent days that Craig Pollock has backing from Canadian billionaire Edgar Bronfman Jr. of the Seagram drinks company. According to stories in Bernie Ecclestone's Formula 1 magazine, the deal would enable Pollock to buy the Arrows team in league with Morgan Grenfell.

This has caused Pollock some amusement as he says that he has never met Bronfman and so the likelihood that he has been given $40m in backing is rather unlikely.

Our sources say that the rescue of Arrows by Pollock is no longer an option for the team. The big question being asked in the paddock at Magny-Cours was whether or not Red Bull, revealed as a potential buyer of the team, is still interested in buying Arrows or whether all the recent upheavals have caused the Austrian drinks company to have second thoughts.

Walkinshaw said that there are three potential buyers for the team but has not revealed who these may be. We hear that one is a consortium of Brazilian businessmen who wish to ensure that Enrique Bernoldi's F1 career continues.
