When the going gets tough - run three cars

CART has been going through a bit of a rough patch of late with several teams struggling to make ends meet in the difficult economic circumstances. The series needs 20 cars to keep the race promoters happy and with numbers threatening to drop below that Target Chip Ganassi Racing has come to the rescue and will run a third car for New Zealand's Scott Dixon alongside Kenny Brack and Bruno Junqueira.

Dixon, the Indy Lights champion of 2000 won a CART race in his rookie year with PacWest but the renamed PWR Championship Racing has struggled to find backing and was rumored to be on the verge of pulling the plug on the program. The team recently released second driver Spain's Oriol Servia from his contract but it looks like he will back in action this weekend.
