BAR gives details of management structure

GIVING out details of new management structures is all the rage at the moment in the midfield in Formula 1, and British American Racing has just announced the major players in the restructured team.

As we suggested recently the key figure in the team will be group managing director Nick Fry, who will run both Prodrive and BAR. He will be in charge of all of BAR's engineering, manufacturing, marketing and human resource activities. Fry's appointment underlines the extent of the Prodrive involvement in the team.

Geoff Willis will be technical director and will as expected oversee five different divisions within the team.

Hugh Chambers will be responsible for marketing for both BAR and Prodrive in his role as group marketing director. Chambers will be responsible for building up the BAR brand, bringing in new revenue and developing a more strategic approach. At the same time he will continue with the same role at Prodrive.

Mike McGuire has been named BAR commercial director and his main aim will be to find backing for the team in the long term. He will be joined by Iain Brown as client services director and will be responsible for looking after the team's backers, for events and hospitality and public relations activities.
