Raikkonen ends Valencia test on a high note

THURSDAY was the final day of testing in Valencia for McLaren and Jaguar, and Kimi Raikkonen lowered the track record to 1m10.937s in the new McLaren MP4/17. The time sheet order looked just as it did Wednesday, with McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz behind Raikkonen, followed by Jaguar drivers Pedro De la Rosa and Eddie Irvine.

The Valencia track record has been broken numerous times during testing over the past month, and was held by Williams' Juan-Pablo Montoya before Raikkonen's session Thursday.

Both teams conducted tire testing for Michelin, and Jaguar continued to collect data on the R3 fitted with a new floor and rear suspension. The updates to the new Jaguar were first seen Tuesday at the Spanish circuit.
