Williams, Jaguar join McLaren in Barcelona
TESTING continued at the Circuit de Catalunya on Friday, where McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz shattered the track record he set earlier in the week. Wurz set a best time of 1m17.328s in an interim MP4/16, testing alongside teammate Kimi Raikkonen, driving the new MP4/17.
Williams test drivers Marc Gene and Antonio Pizzonia were also in action in Barcelona Friday while much of the team was at Silverstone for the launch of the new FW24. The new car is on its way to join the Barcelona test on Saturday, where it will be run by Ralf Schumacher and Juan-Pablo Montoya in the coming days.
Jaguar and Pedro De la Rosa rejoined the Barcelona test on Friday, after three days of straight-line tests to sort out the R3's front wing problem. The modified front wing parts are due to arrive in Barcelona on Saturday.
The grueling test schedule will continue for the teams, right up to the Australian GP in early March.
