Another way of spreading the F1 word
THE World Rally Championship has managed to build up quite a following with its computer games and Formula 1 is following suit as sales of Sony's Playstation 2 console boom. The Japanese giant has just announced that it has doubled sales of Playstation 2 since last year. In total the company has sold 23m units (each of which costs around $220) and the company is well ahead of all the competition in the sector. Over the Christmas period Sony reported that it nearly tripled sales in Japan and doubled sales in the US.
This is good news for Sony but it is also good news for Formula 1 as the Grand Prix racing game is one of the most popular of those used on Playstation 2 and so more and more people are being introduced to the sport.
