Irvine still rabbiting on

EDDIE IRVINE is not a man given to moderation and his latest attack in his column in the British tabloid newspaper The Sun is yet another attack on a fellow driver. Irvine has condemned fellow countryman Jenson Button for his poor season with Benetton saying that if he was the team boss he would have "ditched" Button.

Irvine seems to have overlooked the fact that for most of the season his performances were rather less than impressive compared to those of Pedro de la Rosa who is paid a fraction of the money earned by the talkative Ulsterman. Fortunately for Irvine he has befriended Jaguar Racing team boss Niki Lauda, the two men both enjoying the F1 lifestyle between races. Whether this will be enough to impress the accountants at Ford when it is time to renegotiate contracts next year remains to be seen.

Still, if there was a World Championship for talking Irvine would definitely be a contender...
