Young drivers rule at Mugello

F1 hopefuls Justin Wilson and Narain Karthikeyan tested for Jordan on Friday at Mugello, while British F3 driver Anthony Davidson and F3000 driver Darren Manning were behind the wheel for BAR.

Friday wrapped up the three day test for both teams, concluding their test programs for 2001. A testing ban takes effect for all the teams following the final round of the season in Japan next weekend.

Britain's Justin Wilson, the newly-crowned F3000 champion, appears to have lost out on a shot at the second Jordan race seat in 2002, but underlined his pace by heading the final day's running at the sweeping Italian circuit.

"It's gone very well," he said. "I'm happy with my experience this week - the team has been very helpful and patient in helping me to familiarize myself with the circuit, as it's not the easiest track to learn. I've enjoyed both my test sessions with Jordan and we'll have to wait and see what happens in the future."
