Drivers donate gear for US charity auction

THE Formula 1 drivers have given some of their racing equipment used at Indianapolis to the Speedway to be put at auction to raise money for charity to benefit the children of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. Around 6000 people are believed to have died in the attacks. Jarno Trulli donated his specially-liveried helmet to the New York Fire Department while race winner Mika Hakkinen gave his racing overalls and Michael Schumacher donated his helmet.
