Scheckter prepares to sub for Saelens

FORMER Jaguar test driver Tomas Scheckter has tested for the European Minardi F3000 team at Spa in case the team's regular driver, Belgian David Saelens, is unfit for duty on the support race bill for this weekend's German Grand Prix.

Saelens suffered back and wrist injuries in a heavy shunt during qualifying for the British Grand Prix support race. Scheckter, who was dismissed from his role as Jaguar Racing test driver following an indiscretion with a prostitute, is currently competing in the F3000-rivalling Formula Nissan series.
