Alesi sets two-year target

FORMULA ONE's elder statesman Jean Alesi has said he is ready to stay in the series until he is nearly 40 -- and has set himself a two-year target to help his Prost team get to the top.

Alesi, the oldest current driver at 37, wants to help team boss Alain Prost fulfil his ambition of being a race-winner once again and to also become a regular points-scorer.

"I want to be in Formula One for another two years," Alesi said. "I think I have something to offer still. I believe, and I think the team do, that Prost can be a regular in the points.

"I want to help Alain achieve that because it is his dream to go to the top again. I think I can push the team up the grid and that is why I want to stay.

"I've had some good times but hopefully there is some more left in me."
