Schumacher confident for Imola after testing

THREE-TIME world champion Michael Schumacher has declared Ferrari's competitive edge will be sharpened by the failure to win at the Brazilian Grand Prix last week.

Schumacher, speaking after testing at Fiorano, looked set to win the race until he spun his car allowing McLaren's David Coulthard to regain lost time and go on to win the race.

The Ferrari team tested this week ahead of their home Grand Prix aware that they must improve their performance because of the fear of McLaren and Williams.

"This week's testing has been very positive," said Schumacher, "We worked principally on the tires and the development of several aerodynamic solutions.

"I am sure that at Imola we will be more competitive than in Brazil. This year the battle for the Championship will be between three teams - I think Williams will be up front also at Imola."

Schumacher completed a total of 127 laps with a best time of 59.349 seconds, while Ferrari test driver ran 49 laps with a fastest time of one minute and 01.076 seconds.
