Kane helps Arrows out

INDY LIGHTS driver Jonny Kane received a late call-up to join Arrows for a very brief spell as a Formula One test driver on Thursday.

The Briton filled in a gap for the team when he drove this year's A22 at the Lurcy Levis circuit, concentrating on aerodynamic testing.

Enrique Bernoldi was testing in Magny-Cours and neither Jos Verstappen nor the team's test driver Johnny Herbert were available, so the team turned to Kane.

"It was his first test for the team and we managed to get him at short notice," said a team spokesperson, who admitted Arrows had run out of drivers at the time and said Arrows is not planning to bring Kane in as a permanent tester.
