PSN interested in continuing Mazzacane backing despite Minardi dispute

PAN AMERICAN SPORTS NETWORK, PSN, have stated that they intend to continue to back Argentine driver Gaston Mazzacane - despite pulling out of a deal to take control of Minardi.

The Miami-based media event bought Minardi chairman Gabriele Rumi's 68 per cent stake in the team in September but have pulled out of the deal, putting the future of the Italian minnows in doubt.

But PSN have suggested to Mazzacane, who debuted in Formula One this season, that they are discussing potential backing for him in 2001.

"We are very pleased with the association with Gaston Mazzacane during the past year and we remain interested in continuing the relationship," a PSN statement said.

"We are exploring several options, though we are not yet in a position to discuss the alternatives."
