Todt explains Prost engine deal implications

Jean Todt has explained the implications of the Ferrari engine deal which will power the Prost and Sauber teams next year.

Ferrari general manager Todt has stressed the importance of keeping the two engine supplies separate from Ferrari's own development.

"It's an important decision for all the teams next year," said Todt. "This is why we will have a completely new workshop, completely separate from the team.

"But when the V10 is developed they will have an engine and interior which we use ourselves."

Todt revealed that there is still preparation work to do before the deal can be implemented, but he is confident it will be completed in time.

He added: "It will all be a question of timing. It is true that we are not totally okay for the year 2001, but there is nothing to have a catastrophe about.

"We have to be sure that we can have two teams without disturbing our own factory, because that obviously has priority."
