QUALIFYING REPORT - HAMILTON BY A COUNTRY MILE
Lewis Hamilton dominated qualifying at the new Yas Island circuit in Abu Dhabi. The McLaren-Mercedes driver used his KERS system to great effect to snatch pole in the final moments of the qualifying session.

US F1 Team announced today that MotorLand Aragon, an 865-acre motorsports complex located in the northern part of Spain in the town of Alcaniz, has been selected as the team's European base.

The latest whispers about sponsorship in Formula 1 suggest that Exxon Mobil is going to switch its Mobil sponsorship from McLaren to Brawn in 2010, as part of the Mercedes-Benz-ifaction of the World Championship winning team.

Panasonic Toyota Racing has confirmed that Kamui Kobayashi will race for the team in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
SELLING RENAULT
There has been talk for a while now that Renault is planning to fund its Formula 1 team next year by selling a shareholding in the organisation, perhaps with an option for the buyer to take completely control of the team in 2013.
TODT IS FIA PRESIDENT
Jean Todt has been elected President of the FIA, succeeding Max Mosley. The result was 135 votes for Todt and 49 votes from Ari Vatanen.
ELECTION DAY
The FIA General Assembly meets today to elect a replacement for Max Mosley, bringing to an end his long reign as head of the federation.
DONINGTON DREAMS COME TO AN END
The idea of hosting the British Grand Prix at Donington seems finally to have come to an end.
FIA INSTITUTE TO LAUNCH ENIRONMENTAL DIVISION
The FIA meetings in Paris have resulted in a significant expansion of the FIA Institute to include not just safety issues but also questions of motor sport sustainability as well.
BRIATORE CASE TO BE HEARD ON NOVEMBER 24
Flavio Briatore's complaint against the FIA will be heard in the Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris on November 24. The Italian is arguing that the decisions of the FIA World Motor Sport Council did not have the right to punish him as it did and that procedures were not properly followed.
ANOTHER PROVISIONAL CALENDAR
The FIA World Council has agreed that the Monaco Grand Prix move forward one week to May 16. The FIA has approved in principle a proposal to swap the dates of the Abu Dhabi and Brazilian grands prix, pending agreement with the promoters of both events.

RACE REPORT - JENSON INTERCEPTS THE TITLE
After a miserable qualifying on Saturday, it did not seem very likely that the World Championship would be decided in Brazil. The folk in Abu Dhabi were no doubt happy. Bernie Ecclestone was no doubt pondering astronomical TV viewing figures. It all looked as though Rubens Barrichello would win at home and close the gap to Jenson Button... Ah, but that was on paper...

BUTTON IS THE WORLD CHAMPION
Jenson Button became the second British World Champion in succession in Sao Paulo, his fifth place gave him a total of 89 points and with Sebastian Vettel picking up only five points for fourth place and Rubens Barrichello one point for eighth, after a late race puncture, their totals ended up being 74 and 72, with only 10 available for victory in Abu Dhabi.
BRIATORE SAYS HE WILL SUE FIA
Flavio Briatore says that tomorrow he will commence proceedings in the Paris Tribunal de Grande Instance (High Court) challenging the decision announced by the FIA World Motor Sport Council on 21st September 2009.

Rubens Barrichello has always excelled in complicated qualifying sessions, with changing conditions and he did it again in Brazil, when he most needed it.

Rains ruined the Saturday practice session at Interlagos with the weather so bad that for 42 minutes the saftey helicopter was unable to fly.

Fernando Alonso set the fastest time of the second practice session in Sao Paulo, lapping just a fraction faster than the Toro Rosso of Sebastien Buemi.

The Friday morning session in Brazil resulted in Mark Webber setting the fastest time of the 90 minutes, four-tenth ahead of Rubens Barrichello's Brawn and Webber's team mate Sebastian Vettel.

DONINGTON GOES FOR A BOND ISSUE
Donington Park has launched a sale of bonds in an effort to raise the $215m it needs to complete all the necessary work for the 2010 British Grand Prix.
STILL WAITING ON DONINGTON
The future of the British Grand Prix remains clouded as Donington Park is now running out of time to start work on the development necessary in order to host a race. Donington Ventures Leisure Limited says that it has been given two more weeks in which to get the funding together.
THE TRIALS OF A1GP
A1GP boss Tony Teixeira has won a court case to win the release of the cars that have been held since the end of the last A1GP season by a freight company that is claiming it is owed $2m. Delivered On Time (DOT) was holding the cars in lieu of payment.
