Foster returns to Jordan

TREVOR FOSTER, one of the most respected managers in F1, has returned to Jordan Grand Prix.

TREVOR FOSTER, one of the most respected managers in F1, has returned to Jordan Grand Prix. He will become General Manager at the team's Silverstone factory.

Forty-three year old Foster started out in motor racing in the early 1970s as a mechanic in Formula 2. He joined the Shadow F1 team in 1974, and there followed spells at Tyrrell and with the March Formula F2 team before he decided to quit racing in 1980. He spent two years working as a car dealer but returned to the sport in 1983 with his own FF1600 team - PegasusÊMotorsport. This graduated to Formula 3, but closed down in 1986, and Foster joined Jordan as team manager and race engineer. He stayed with the team until the start of 1993 when he was appointed director of racing at Team Lotus.

He quit Lotus a year later, unable to agree on policy with team boss Peter Collins. He planned to establish his own Formula 3000 team but this never happened.
