Clemar Bucci

This dour, pipe-smoking driver from Argentina took the South American land speed record with a Porsche-designed Cisitalia Formula 1 prototype shortly after the war and later competed in four European Grands Prix in 1954 at the wheel of a Gordini. His only major achievement was to qualify on the front row of the grid at Pescara, albeit 23secs a lap lower than Stirling Moss. Bucci ran second in the race but crashed. His last Formula 1 outing was in the 1955 Argentine Grand Prix where he shared his car with Harry Schell and Carlos Menditeguy.
